PLAY NEXT MONTH Locals Now Have An 8-3 Record For °50 Season Basketball Play Key West Will Play Winner Of Coming Homestead-Belle Glade Cage Game At the Eighth District’ basket- ball meeting Sunday, 11 Florida schools were represented and entered the tournament to be held at South Browards’ High School at Hollywood, March 1, 2, 3, and 4. As expected Homestead won the number one seeded spot with a 14-3 record with all three defeats coming from class “4” schools. South Broward with 12-3 rec- ord drew the number two spot with one loss to class “B” sehools and two “A” school losses. Pompano drew the number three spot with 9-3 record and Key West the number four position with 8-3 record. St. Peters and Pauls drew the fifth spot with 7-3 season. The opening round of play will find Key West playing the win- ner of the Belle Glade and Pa- Hokee game while Homestead will meet the winner of the Sea- erest and Lake Worth game. If beth Homestead and Key West win these two games. they will meet in the semi-finals on Fri- day night. If the local boys can upset Homestead they should hold a good spot for winning the district, as Homestead is allready accepted as one of the favorites to win the State “B” championship. Friday night should give the Conchs an idea of whether they ean win or not as they meet Tech High of Miami, who Home- stead defeated last week. However Tech was crippled for that game with four regular starters out of the starting line- up. Three of these boys are ex- pete ready for their game with West Friday night.
