Yates had to demand quick re- spect over such opponents as O. Roche, C. E. Smith and Leo Lopez, to grab the coveted place in the Finals Match. The other Charlie, Salas by name, wormed his way homeward to the Finals, also the hard way, through men like Jim Jones, Mel Mamel and Esmond Albury. And now, the two Char-| lies are aiming at one another with both barrells loaded with buckshot, and will face one an- other this coming week—end in in the history of any Pro—pro- moted Tournaments. Although both Charlies had uphill grinds in reaching the summit of the Finals, they will understand whenI say that they’ve only begun when they face each other for the Oscar ; Prize in the Play-off in the First Flight. The Second Division in the Championship has every reason to boast of sweet golfers in their ranks. The retiring young insur- ance wizard, Bob Saunders wield- ed wicked woods in clawing past his opponents, or else he would never have reached the Finals in this Division. With an honorable In the first flight of the Club; ders will discover that Golf can: BAAAAAADABDAAASAAMAMS be real business rather than a; luxurious sport to be taken with a grain of salt. This week-end will tell-tale the story of two he-glof- ers at work and not at play. Lon- deree took his opponents in true style, one-two-three, just like that when he played against Glynn Archer, W. P. Kemp, and Louis Pierce. Saunders did the same with his men, J. Oliveros, Hugh Moore, Ben (Hogan) Cole, and Malcolm Sawyer. The Finals in this branch of the Championship will be played this week-end. In the Third Flight of the Championship Play, J. Oliveros emerged as winner in the Finals, but found the going hardiy tough enough to mention, save that on lone player we call Lefty Reagan, who by the way, isn’t a “gimmie” in any man’s lingo. Oliveros found the going little hard after he faced and defaced Lefty, for, ac- cording to the chart that hangs upon the Pro Shop’s wall, no one came out to combat the golf bats of Oliveros. Quite a Final Play- off, if you ask me, with no one showing up to play against Oli- veros but Oliveros. And who can beat oneself ex- cept oneself, and who is winner opponent in J. J. Londeree, Saun- over oneself but oneself? I ask }j you. The WEATHERMAN Says: Key West and Vicinity: Partly cation of widely scattered thun- derstorms. It was a_ thrill- packed fight, but Robinson’s punching wore Belloise down un- til a fast left hook to the jaw did Robinson won the first three rounds as Belloise showed little. In round four, Robinson con- tinued to shower blows on his old- er opponent, but Belloise finally; connected with his lethal right, and at the bell Robinson was in a bad way, and on the verge of go- ing down In the fatal seventh, Belloise | went down for a count of five as the bell sounded. Belloise saved by the bell, nevertheless could not make round eight, and Robinson was accorded a | knockout in the seventh under New York state boxing rules. Eddie Joseph was the referee.
