Citizen, City Director of Pub- lic Service, Robert H. Dopp, this morning sprang to the defense of W. B. Hanson, experienced plumber, engaged in the current plumbing controversy with a faction led by Albert G. Roberts, secretary of the Key West Plumbers Association. The story carried in yester- day’s paper, Dopp said, did not adequately give Hanson’s side of the issue. (Editor’s Note: The Citizen story was written from statements of Roberts and George A. Warren, State Sani- tary Officer, to whom Roberts had taken his case aiter Hanson complained of work Roberts was doing on a certain job.) Dopp’s letter follows: Editor, The Key West Citizen: \ Your article of last evening, re-} garding the plumbers’ contro-! versy, is so unfair to Mr. W. B.} Hanson, that I am prompted to} offer the true story: 1. Mr. Roberts did underbid Mr. Hanson for the job. 2. Mr. Hanson did examine the ette Ta Revision On Nov. Cigar TALLAHASSEE, 28.— session of the legislature a little | more than four months away. i The issues already are starting to form: constitutional revision, the white primary, school and health financing, tax system ad- justments, cattle fencing, water control, state return of cigarette taxes to the cities, co-education at the colleges.and a dozen others more or less explosive. There is the undercurrent of a clash between Governor Cald- {well and an almost hostile state mate, emphasized by the Gov-; ernor’s refusal to recognize Sen. Edwin G. Frase election to, the state comptroller’s seat. That | particular fight may be settled} !by the supreme court before th H j legislature convenes, but the bit-; | terness 1s sure to ‘linger and; administration pro-: every turn, whoever, haunt the gram at wins. An examination of the job as! it was being done at the time, re- vealed that it was NOT in ac- cordance with the Code. 4. Mr. Roberts readily agreed; to make all necessary corrections when the violations of the Code were pointed out to him, and has since presented a plan of con- struction which meets all re- quirements of the Code. Your article would lead one not familiar with the facts, to believe that Mr. Hanson was completely in the wrong. It is this writer's humble opinion that Mr. Hanson’s only error in this case was an examination of the job without first requesting the presence of the Plumbing In- spector. Hoping that you will see fit to right a wrong, I am. Very truly yours, , ROBERT H. DOPP. Roberts could not be reached for comment on the letter. i Constitutional Legislative Slate form his recommendations to the given himself up on a charge of (FNS)—With elections over, Flor-, budget commission and _ legisla- sted at 3:40 ida governmental attention is be-| ture for financial procedures to } rnoon while! ginning to focus on the biennial; be followed by funds to be spent | by the state agencies for the j next two years. BENDER OF OHIO TO- DAY (By Associated Press) WASHINGTON, Nov. 28.—It the court fight in the trial of John L. Lewis is prolonged, it will mean economic suicide for the nation, Representative George Bender of Ohio declared today He urged that the court, with- out resorting to endless red tape, decide at the earliest possible mo- ment the status of the Lewis case for every day of delay meant the throwing out of work of thou- sands of more men and the fur- ther contraction of production in many industries. Senator Ball of Minnesota, in discussing the Norris-LaGuardia anti-injunction law, said that, should the court decide that it is applicable to the government, as well as to individual or corporate interests, he will introduce a measure at the next congress that will put in plain words the ex- ception of the act to the govern- ment in time of national emergen- cies, or threatened emergencies, as is the case at present in the contempt of court hearing. Discussion of the suit today cen- tered on the Norris-LaGuardia act, with Lewis’ attorneys still ‘maintainjng, in a statement is- sued this morning, that the gov- ernment is just as amenable to the law as is an individual or a company.
