PAGE FOUR B | Colonel Peter O. Knight, Well Known In Key West, Dies In His Colonel Peter O. Knight, well *————_—— known to many Key Westers, died yesterday in his home in Tampa. Colonel Knight was a frequent visitor to Key West until recent! years, and he was familiar with the early history of this city. He knew Key West when it had the largest population in Florida. Incidentally, he was The Citi- zen’s oldest subscriber. He sub- scribed for The Citizen in 1886, shortly after he was admitted to! the bar, and his subscription had continued without a break dur- ing those 60 years. When he was admitted to the bar, he began to practice in Fort Myers, and it was to that city The Citizen was sent to him. In 1889 he moved to Tampa, and The Citizen followed him there. Colonel Knight was general counsel in Florida for Stone and Webster, which controlled the Key West Electric Company from its organization tiil the time it was bought by the city of Key West. . Qn his arrival here, one of the first things he did was to call on his oldtime friend, the’ late Dr. Joseph Y. Porter.
