PEOPLE'S FORUM | 2P a the reaesideren' | VERBAL PLEASANTRIES Editor, The Citizen: After reading the article “In All Fairness”, appearing in The Citizen on August 20, I think it would be proper that I drop the ‘title “Golden Rule Sweeting”, and instead adopt one to read “Second the Motion Sweeting”. I have really been investigated, even to the number of motions | Gang “graduates” are now spec- and seconds I made in office, in fact, -almost pulled to pieces. However, I knew the contents of the motions I seconded, which is‘more than some members of past administrations can say. Idid not mean to embrace any personalities in my articles, and simply tried to point out that the city manager form of government is. superior to the councilmanic form. Evidently John Glenwood Sweeting is still bitter over his | defeat in the last city election, but such is the will of the peo- ple, and one can surely see that rf | ONLY A “DRUNKEN FRACAS” an arch enemy of civilization and progress. Consequently, the well- trained child might well inquire “What price schooling, home training, religion, civics”? Is it | It is banal to assume that one - could harness human nature. But I do know that the city had to borrow money during 1943-from an individual because the local bank would not issue the city further credit on a loan. We all know that the years 1941 to 1945 were the most lush for imahy a year. SWEETING, -“PARADOXES” Editor, The Citizen; It can be safely declared that most of us are farhiliar with the golden fule. Still, hardly a single hour of the day passes without noting how indifferently some- one will profane that rule which practically governs Christianity. A child is trained at home, school and church. Respectively: Home—good manners, family love. School — chiefly reading, |. writing, figures and good citizen- ship. Church — religion, love of God and fellowmen. As reported, two of, the sailors ran away, leaving theiz mate to his fate at the hands of the two victors. That was all there was to it. The Chief and The Citizen were misinformed. Once again, after nrany months, the long dead Swamp Gang makes the headlines.
