DEMERITT Another Key West man gave his life for his country, in addi- tion to the list published in yes- terday’s Citizen, it was learned today from a War Department report. Second Lt. Ray E. Demeritt, ASN 0-810328, Air Corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Demeritt of 531 Francis street, was a pilot of an Army “Thunderbolt” plane and parachuted to his death dur- ing the bombardment of Char- tiers, France, in 1944. He was never seen agan, though the Anmy lists him “diéd of injuries.” Two weeks after the! bombard- ment by the Allied planes, the U. S. Army ground: forces cap- tured Chartiers.
