E LXVIIL No. 153 ark Sprinkler System Stymied By Bottleneck Use of an $800 sprinkler system purchased for the Key West Municipal Stadium has’ been stymied by the manufacturers bottleneck in transformers, it was learned today. Roy Hamlin, city clerk and president of the stadium com- mittee, said that after installing the sprinkler system in the ball field at the stadium, the city wes unable to use it, as the city electric system has not been able to provide the two §-kilowatt transformers needed te supply the current. Cc. A. Van Deursen, manager of the city electric system, said that transformers have been or- dered for over a year and are badly needed by local businesses and residences. Thier requir ments must come first, he said, but it is hoped enough trans- formers for all requirements will be received soon. OPA Communistic, | Says Sen. War Dead List Nears 400,000 (By Associated Press) WASHINGTON, June 27.— The Army and the Navy to- day issued complete lists of . Americans who died in World War Il. : Number ‘of soldiers who lost their lives were listed at 308,000, and the total of sailors was given at 87,000. Total of both branches was said to be slightly more than three percent of the 10,000,- 000 Americans who took part in the war. SIS ST STIS 2 7 3 Capt. Carl Hilton Rotarian Speaker Captain Carl H. Hilton was guest speaker at the Rotarians luncheon today. He said that he and Mrs. to reside permanently as this was the place they missed the most in 34 years of service. They have purchased the former Connable home in Martello Towers. Before the war, Capt. Hilton was commanding officer of the Coast Guard Base. here. Prior to the outbreak of hostilities, he was sent to the Dominican Republic where he became “as- sistant secretary of Dominican Navy,” as his duties there con- sisted of organizing and training the island’s Coast Guard. His next assignment was com- manding officer of a transport that took thousands of Gls to Europe and | many wounded “Krauts” back. Next Capt. Hilton enjoyed transport duty between Calcutta and New York. At one time he attempted to fly to Mrs. Hilton jin California but was grounded and had to make the trip by boat.
