G. Rus- sell, TM3c. The complete fishing par- ty comprised C. R. Reagan, of the Sea Raider; A. H. Hoe- flicker, TM3c; Russell; R. A. McBridge, TM2c; R. A. Gru- well, TM3c, and Bill Kroll of the Sea Raider. All four Navy men are crew members of the USS H. W. Gilmore (AS-16). : Reagan operated a navy recreation fishing boat out of NOB here during 1942 and 1943, at which time he was a shipfitter in the Navy. Kroll was a Navy magnetic com- pass compensator with NOB Degaussing Section during the war. The spindlesnoot was hook- ed by Russell on his first deepsea fishing trip. In ad- ‘dition to the Gulf Stream gamester, a number of group- er and barracuda were brought to gaff by Russell and the other fishermen. Mc- Bride says fishing the reefs and Stream is certainly dif- ferent from catching ‘grunts off ‘the stern of the USS. After joining the Navy, he played on his outfit’s club and was pick- ed on an All-Star Navy Nine— jand made good. Lastres was signed by Manager Ganell of the Smokers. The Key West youth will leave today for the West Coast city, where he starts practice Sunday to get ready for the league’s opening on April 16. He is one of three Lastres sons now active in sports in this city. All are outstanding in their re- spective positions in baseball and softball. Good luck to you, Danny.
