Brown, USNR, 46, of 1125 United street, Key’ West, Fla., formerly of St. Joseph, Mich., as- sumed duty as executive officer on board a new ammunition ship, the USS Great Sitkin, when that vessel was commissioned today at the Charleston Navy Yard. Captain Guy E. Baker, USN, Captain of the Yard, presided over the com@issioning ceremon- ies. The Great Sitkin. named for a voleani¢c island in the Aleutians, was built and launched at the North Carolina. Shipbuilding Company in Wilmington, N. C. Construction of the vessel was completed at the Charleston Navy Yard, where it also was fitted out. Alexander Motors, Duval and Division streets, is the owner of the automobile in question. It was kept on the parking lot at that location, and the first time it was stolen. Policeman Caraballo found it at the foot of Simonton street on the south side of the island; the second time he located it on Boca Chica; the third time at the foot of White street on the south shore, and this morning he found it at Royal and United streets, with four boys in it. Three of the bovs ran away, but Demer- itt, who, Policeman Caraballo id, had been driving the car, was arrested. Policeman Caraballo had been in the habit of parking his car in the lot while he went on patrol! duty. At 12:15 this morning, when he returned to get his car, he} found that gasoline had been sip- honed out of the tank, and that the car that had been stolen three , times was missing again. He pre-| sumed that the gasoline had ‘been taken from his tank and put into’ the tank of the stolen car, the wires of which"had been attached to the spark plugs by’ the thieves. Policeman Caraballe put gaso- line in the tank of his car and started out to look for the thieves. He found the car parked at Royal and United street, with four: boys in it, but three of them escaped but he caught Orion Demeritt. This morning Demeritt was turned over to the county, and Peace Justice Esquinaldo issued warrants for the arrests of the other boys. Two of them, Ansenio Gzrcia, 19, 912 Simonton street, and Andre Zaldivar, 9 Thompson lane, were arrested and locked up in the county jail, and search is being made for the other boy. The boys will be arraigned be- fore Peace Justice Esquinaldo at 10 o'clock Monday morning. The fourth boy, George Garcia, 16, of J. Y. Porter Place, was rested this afternoon by Sacriff Berlin Sawyer and released on posting a bond of $200.
