C., Nov. 13. —-Cadet Thomas Grenyille Hoey of 401 Eaton street, Key West, Fla., has completed the initial step in his training as a Naval Avia- tion cadet at the Navy Pre-Flight School here, and has been trans- ferred to the Naval Reserve Avia- tion Base at Glenview, Ill, for primary flight instruction. Cadet Hoey was one of 58 cadets in the 6 and 7 Battalion to be graduated from the Chapel Hill school. on November 3, 1942, after three months of intensive training designed to prepare the cadets for combat flying to come. In addition to the important phy- sical toughening phase, the Pre- Flight course includes military drill, and instruction in Naval customs and basic ground school subjects. Cadet Hoey now faces three months of primary flight instruc. tion and then three months of ad- vanced training before winning his wings in the Navy’s air ser- vice.
