Spencer returned to the city Thursday on the vessel from a trip to Tortugas and a very interesting visit to Fort Jefferson. The vessel, which is in command of Captain Patrick Fogarty. encountered a little rough weather on the trip but this was offset by the interesting sights that were seen on every hand. Especially were they inter- ested in that section of Fort Jefferson which contains the dungeon where Doctor Mudd was incarcerated. The party was interested also in the story of the dis- appearance of Bird Key, which necessitated vast num- bers of birds hunting for new breeding grounds, many of them finding homes on Log- gerhead Key.
