The manner in which the in- crease in tolls was brought about confirms my own opinion in this regard, and it appears very clearly that such an important matter should have been given more study, and not shoved at the Commission during a heated session without presenting the recommendations of F. E. Harri- son, Jr., the authority who pre- pared the report. ' With all of the above in mind, along with other - situations and ‘facts’ that came to my attention, two alternatives presented them- selves: (1) to. resign as attorney demand ‘that these things. above outlined in both my: articles to The Citizen be carried out, and fight for my own convictions in the matter. I took the last choice, even though I had every reason days prior to the last Board meeting and before it met, that I would be somewhat embar- rassed, and that the majority of the Board would either “fire me” or abolish my position. In conclusion, I say again that it is my sincere hope that what is best for the interest of Monroe County should be accomplished, and that the affairs of the Over- seas Road and Toll Bridge Dis- trict will be placed open to ex~ amination at all times before the eyes of the people of Monroe County.
