Opened the day before, that post office had played the beanstalk which overnight sprouted Quanomet , into the headlines, lifting it forever from its unquestioned posi- ‘tion as Cape Cod’s forgotten hamlet. For twenty years, while others sprightlier towns continued to burgeon and flourish, Quanomet had steadily withered and decayed.
