POSTAL REVENUE _ SHOWS INCREASE Due to the opening of the Over- seas Highway, said Postmaster Sam Harris, the postal revenues at the Kev West postoffice has shown a decided increase during April over the same month of the preceding year. Total postal receipts of the of- fice shown for April was $3,547.27, which, when compared with those of the same month in 1937, which was $2,302.10, shows an increase of $1,245.17. This increase, Postmaster Har ys, is the greatest increase during the year in which y month has shown an in- crease over the same month in j 1937. | In the money order department the increase in business was also noted. Jenkins Curry, candidate as county commissioner from the Fifth District and the first time he has ever been a candidate for i any office, led the race in nine of the ten precincts throughout the ballot counting. | As a matter of truth, Mr. Curry | polled a larger vote in the Fifth | Precinct than the combined vote of his three opponents, ana nar- rowly missed repeating the per- formance in the First Precinct In the First, the vote was 114 to a combined 121, and in the Fifth, 232 to a combined 176. The ticket was led by George A. Worley, candidate for reelec- tion to the office of state attorney for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, whose total of votes was 2,771. The next highest was that of Mel- vin Russell, candidate for state enator from the 24th Senatorial District, with 2,744. Of the candidates who will en- ter the Second Primary on May 24, there will be but four in Mon- roe County: Thomas S. Caro and | Bernie C.
