In the race for the senatorship of the 24th District great em- | phasis is being placed upon the idea that it is a contest between a j| mainlander and an islander, between a cracker and a conch. The friends of the other candidate for the State Senatorship do not stress the qualifications for office or fitness to serve of their candidate, but rather make an appeal to the mainlanders fo vote against an islander, | Their next strongest appeal is to vote for the Lee County candidate || just because Monroe County has had the Senatorship for a long time. They conveniently forget to mention that in each election thev have done their best to wrest from us the Senatorship. Monroe County has demonstrated for fifty years that it can retain the senatorship by reason of its political solidarity. Monroe County has ever given an overwhelming vote to its candidate. There is no reason to believe that Key West, now when it needs the political in- fluence of this important office so badly, will surrender it without a fight. If the people of Key West will perform their duty as citi- | zens, go to the polls and vote, Key West can retain the Senatorship. { it (Paid Political Advertisement) In offering myself as a candi i date for reelection to the office of | County Commissioner, I do so | with three main purposes in mind, | first of which is to properly re- present and serve the people. sec ond to study the county's interest {in all matters. and third. to per- form the duties of the office with out fear or favor in whatever may arise affecting the welfare of the people of Monroe County.
