It has given employment to many, amusement to a greater number, and has a distinct educational value, On the other hand it has long been known that some types of noises are very detrimental to all, and really injurious to some. They prevent efficiency in workers, and are most trying to delicate persons. Employers have realized that noise has an appreciable effect on their employes, and have con- structed sound-proof offices. In Key West there is a special feature of the radio which, while it causes no inconvenience to the writer, must do so in the case of) many. Many of the programs are in a language that neighbors do_ not understand. If a person lived in Havana, had a loud sounding program in Wnglish, that was not understood by the residents, it might become @ real and intolerable nuisance. The radio has one most helpful feature. It can be tuned so soft- ly that it is only heard by those who wish to hear it, and cannot be heard beyond the room, or home, where it is played. For some reason, not clear to your correspondent, some of our and blast even when static is present. Im the case of offices, persons in stores, and especially schools other, and churches, with private homes, | the result is very unpleasant.
