No Exhibit This Year The usual exhibit of gifts made, by the pupils for the parents was not held this year at the request of the children, as they wanted to surprise every grade in school made calen- dars, Christmas eards and pbook- Sylvia lets. Many toys were made for}! small brothers and sisters. Wood- en gifts included tie racks, mateh boxes, door stops, waste baskets. The upper grade girls made laun- dry bags, wash cloths, hand- kerchief bags, tea towels, aprons, scarfs, pot holders and vanity sets. Among the other gifts were framed pictures, plaster paris wall plaques, shaving pads, fish scale’ flowers, book markers, : wall, pockets for bills, and letter hold- ers. The assembly program of the. primary grades held on Friday was directed by Miss H. Williams, Mrs. E. Stricker and Mrs. T. Wat- kins. Operatic Concert Here Tonight Everything was ready this after- noon for the operatic concert which is to be presented in the auditorium of the Key West High School tonight by the Key West Light Opera Company. The con- cert, sponsored by the Key West Woman’s Club, will start at 8:15 o'clock. In addition to operatic selec- tions already planned for the con- cert tonight, a number of Christ- mas carols will be sung, George Mills White, in charge of the pro- | gram, said today. In this, Mr. Wilson coneurred and stated that there were several matters to be taken up in the jmeentime and suggested that no jaetion be taken in the matter un- til he returned to Jacksonville, took up certain questions having {bearing on the cooperative plan. When these were settled, he would communicate with the local com- mittee. Approves Plan Norber; Thompson, owner of the Thompson Fish company, was asked to say a few words. A. Freeman, of the First National Bank, expressed his be- lief in the benefits to be derived by all parties and offered to the cooperative heads his assistance in any way in which he could be of service. County Solicitor Allan B. Cleare also spoke briefly on the matter jand reiterated a statement made some months ago that he would be glad to serve the projectors of the projeet in any manner he could and placed himself at the service of those interested. S. C. Singleton, editor of the Key West Sunday Star, said that there were not as many present as could have been but there were present as many as when the Declaration of Independence | was signed and they certainly put over a grand idea.
