In a wire to Dr. Van Deusen it was suggested he come to Key West if possible and go over the plans, select what he knew would be a logical site for the building and tanks. The matter of the doctor’s com- ming to Key West was mentioned be no more than right that his ex- penses be guaranteed for the trip. After going over the blue- prints submitted in connec- tion with the proposed pro- jects, the council granted permission for the aquarium, with the understanding that an application be made to the headquarters of the Civil Works Board for its ap- proval in the matter.
