PAGE TWO THE KEY WEST CITIZEN WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 4, INACTIVITY AT ‘PENSACOLA IN TRAINING CAMP. FOR| MONTH CAUSE BUT LITTLE | IN AIR TRAINING| DIMINISHED FUNDS WORK CIRCLES «My Associated Preas) PENSACOLA, Fia.,. Aug. 4.— Activities at the Naval cr train- ing station here have been slack- ened due to diminished funds al- lotted’ for this month’s work. Seores of planes are used here in class and student training, with the present class numbering more than 100. The previous class has not. yet, completed training so that fifty, or more planes a day are used. Within the last few days, however, this flock of planes has been missed from the air, for the navy maintains a land plane train- ing school as well as the immense seaplanes. The inactivity is ascribed to a lack of funds for this particular type of government training. The funds available were closely pressed, but during August the tgaining and aviation will be re- newed on an extended scale. It is explained that conservation of funds for all activities has been ordered from Washington. Of course; the aviators are getting salaries right along, but money for | the operation of the planes is the thing which is almost at the low- est ebb, and until the first of the month the ether will be compara- tively free of planes. NEW PAIGE MODELS QUICKLY WIN FAVOR BROUGHAM AND CABRIOLET ARE ALREADY IN GREAT DEMAND The Paige entries in the mid- summer showing of new models have already attained so great a popularity that one of them, the 115-inch wheelbase brougham, leads the entire line in the fac- tory’s production, according to re- ports received from the Paige-De- troit factory by Page & Villareal, local dealers. The other new model, the cabriolet, although the highest priced car made by Paige, is ahead of some of the more con- ventional models in sales volume. ) “Paige. got a flying’ start this year with new models,” remarked Mr. Page, “having presented these cars some time before the usual season for new-car’ announce- ments. Both the brougham and the cabriolet, although appealing to widely different tastes and purses, scored immediate success- es, “In the brougham, with its 115- inch wheelbase, the factory engi- neers have combined the full pow- er of the Paige engine (the same power-plant that is used in the jarger models) with a chassis noteworthy for ease of handling and a body of unusual spacious- hess, and established a new low record in Paige selling prices. “On the other hand, the cabrio- let is the costliest car of the Paige line, the engineers having mount- ed on the standard 125-inch chas- sis a body so, distinguished as to be of outstanding beauty. This ear, which is readily convertible from the coupe type to the open roadster, has found favor both as a car for the business or profes- sional man and as a striking sports model. It embodies several new features that cause comment from all who inspect it, especially the embossed leather used in the seats, the luxurious trim, and the ingen- ious arrangement by which the cat is so quickly changed to an open model.” .
