Thousands of new telephone stations were added to the Bell System in Florida, this widen- - ing the scope of the service and increasing its value to the indi- vidual customer. This phenomenal growth has - also resulted in an enormous increase in the number of local and long distance calls — at times the load has tested the capacity of the machinery and » the skill of the operators. This was an increase of approxi- mately 35 per cent over the pre- vious year. This was at the rate of 460,000 local calls and 5,885 long distance calls a day.
