R. Warner, collaborator and inspector in charge, , Federal Horticultural Board: In the event that a commodity ar- vives whose importation is controlled +by Quarantine 56, if the importer concerned has not secured a permit, the entry may be passed on presenta- fion by the importer of an applica- tion for permit to import the com- modity in question, provided that a permit is already on file at that port authorizing the importation of -*the particular commodity from the sxountry in question. The application is to be transmit- ted to the board promptly by the inspector in charge so that the cor- responding permit or amendment may be issued. -It is hoped that this procedure will eliminate much delay -and expense in telephoning and telegraphing.
