The officials of the Great North- ern railway here say that there were about twice as many deer shippeed out of Grand Rapids dur- ing the season just cloes@ as there were last year. And this in spitd of the fact that the absence of snow was supposed to make the, shooting of deer a difficult propo- sition. The ground was perfectly bare during the entire twenty days making tracking impossible, but in spite of this it seems that the game is so plentiful that the num- wer brought down was than ever. Deer seem to. me mul-, tiplying rapidly under the protec- ition afforded by the laws of the state and it is thought an effort will be made at the coming session | of the legislature to secure an} A | amendment allowing each hunter Ghoperly licensed to shoot two uuimals instead of one.
