Notice is hereby given that a Special Election will be held inthe County of Itasca, on the 19th day of August, A. D., 1913, and in every Township in said County at the egal polling placa in each of said townships, the polls to be opened at 9 o’clock A. The estimated cost of said proposed improvements is $60,000.00. Second. Also to make the following Permanent improvements to wit: clear- ing and grubbing, grading, turnpiking, graveling, ditching and the construction of necessary culverts and bridges on the following described road, to wit: Beginning at the line betwuen Kooch- iching and Itasca counties at the north- east corner, section 6, township 150, range 28, thence south following as mearly as practical, along the East line of sections 6, 7, 18 and 19 to the SE corner, section 19, thence in a south. westerly direction around a small lake intersecting the east 1-16 line of section 30 and continuing south on said 1-16 ling to the SW corner of SE 1-4 of SE 1-4 of section 30, thence east along south line of said section 30 to the NE corner section 31; thence south one mile to the SE corner of said section 31, township 150, range 28; thenca continuing south as nearly as practical along the east line of sections 6 and 7 to the SE cor- ner, section 7, township 149, range 28; thence west one mile to the SW cornar said section 7, and continuing west along the North line of sections 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18, to the NW corner, sec. tion 18, township 149, range 29, which is the point on the Beltrami and Itasca County line. The estimated cost of said proposed improvements is $20,000.00. Third. Ma- honey, acting president of the West- ern Federation of Miners, has left here for Denver, where he will issue a call for an immediate conference of the heads of all unions affiliated with the American Federation of Labor. From them he will ask moral and financial aid for the 15,000 copper mine strikers in Upper Michigan. Before his departure Mahoney bit- terly assailed the “kept press” of the state for their misrepresentation re- garding riots and disorder which re- sulted in mobilization of 2,500 state troops in the copper country. Comparative quiet reigns through- out the strike district. Guards at Red Jacket fired upon three foreigners, who, the <oldiers as- serted, attempted to force the lines. One of the foreigners was slightly wounded in the arm. The services in the church of Holy Communion, Episcopal, will be Sunday school at 10 o'clock in the morning, followed by morning prayers, and sermon at 11 o'clock. G.
