Pursuant to adjournment the Board ef County Commissioners of Itasca coun- ‘ty, Minn., met at the Court House in the Village of Grand Rapids this 20th day of November, 1912, at 10 o'clock, a. =. Members present: Commissioners Nel- son, O’Brien, Mullins and Shellman. In the absence of Chairman King, Vice- Chairman Nelson presided. c. C. McCarthy, attorney for John Poole, et al, presented an application for the correction of assessment and mbatement of taxes for the years 1910 and 1911 upon jots 4, Section 24, Town. ship 55, Range 26. Upon motion said ap- plication was granted ang it was recom- mended to the Minnesota Tax commis- sion that the assessed valuation for said years be reduced from $15.750 to $7875. | E. H. Bither of Bovey, was pres. ent and addressed the board in regard to the construction of Coumty Road No. 112 in the town of Balsam. A petition was presented for the sur- vey of Section 27, Townshiip 57, Range 27. Commissioner O’Brien moved that a hearing be had upon said petitiion at th court house in the village of Grand Rap. j ads on Thursday the 19th day of De- cember, 1912, at 10 o'clock, a. m. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Mullins and carried by unanimous vote. : An adjournment was then taken to 1:30 o'clock, p, m. Pursuant to adjournment the board again met at 1:30 o'clock, p. m. AN members of the board present. Bids for gravelling the road begin. ning at the LaPrairie school house and running North to the Trout Lake road were.opened and read. The bids being as follows: J. S. Lofberg for the sum of $650. Jasper M. Pogue for $1.45 per yard. Commissioner Mullins moved that the bid of Jasper M. Pogue be accepted. The motion was seconded by Commis- sioner O’Brien and upon roll call, was carried, the vote being as follows: Yea—Commissioners O’Brien, Mullins ‘and Nelson. Nay—Commissioners Shellman and King. Cc. V. Smith appeared before the board and presented the matter of an appropri. .ation for the transportation for one Forsman from the State of Oregon to his home in the town of Balsam. The matter was temporarily laid over. Commissioner O’Brien moved that dam- ages in the sum of $25 be allowed to Jno. Ratsman for right of way for a coun. ty road across his land in Sectiion 32 and 33, Township 56, Range 23. The mo- tion was seconded by Commissioner Mul- dings and carried by the following vote: Yea—Commissioners Mullins, Shellman, O’Brien and King. Nay—Commissioner Nelson. A petition was presented for the con. struction of a bridge across Prairie riv- er at the point where County Road No. 411 strikes said river in the town of Bal. sam. As it appears that there is no leg- ally established highway on the north side of said river the petition was laid over. Commissioner Shellman moved that all unfinished business pending before the board be considered and disposed of before any new business be taken up. The motion was seconded by Commis. siioner Mullins and carried by unani. mous vote. The matter of the contract of the Hen mepin Bridge Company to construct @ ‘ridge across the Bigfork river on Coun. ty Road No. 28.was discussed. Commis- sioner Shellman moved that the county auditor be instructed to see that both parties to the contract perform all thé conditions required by the contract. The motion was seconded by Commis. sioner O’Brien and carried by the fol- lowing vote: Yea—Commissioners O'Brien, Shellman and Mullins. Nay—Commissioners King and Nelson. Upon motion the county surveyor was instructed to make a survey for they read running north from County Road No. 101, said Road being known and designated as County Road No. 115. Commissioner O’Brien moved that an extension of eight months time be grant- ed to George Arscott upon his contract for the construction and completion of County Road No. 47 and that an extexs'on of eight months be granted to Wm. Smith upon his contract for the con- struction of the Alvwood road, said ex. tensions being granted subject to the consent of the sureties upon the bonds of said contractors. The motion was sec- onded by Commissioner Mullins and carried by the following vote: Yea—Commissioners King Mullins’ and Shellman. Nay—Commissioner Nelson. It being the time set for the hearing upon the application of the Interna. tional Boom Co. for a license to construct a dam across Popple river in Township 149, Range 27, the same was taken un. der consideration. Commissioner O’Brien moved that said matter be continued to ‘the regular meeting of the County Board ‘to be held on the 7th day of January, 1912. ‘The motion was seconded by Commis. sioner Mullins and carried by unanimous vote.
