DAIRY ITE RD NEAR GRAND RAPIDS nn ee This issue of the HEraLp-REVIEW carries to every resident the tale of agricultural development in Itasca county, “Itasca, the true source of wealth.” It is part of the Publicity Campaign for Itasca County begun in the spring and continued until all of the county is settled. The Publicity Campaign is devised to spread before that host ot people who are looking for new homes the facts about Itasca County, and the facts are good enough without embellishment. The sole aim is to tell the man who is looking to better himself, whether he is now on a rented farm or on wornout land or in unprofitable labor in the cities, to tell him what this country will produce, what the market facilities are and what he can do for himself when he comes here. To show that Itasca County is the coming country, toshow that Itasca is the place where a man makes good; to show that here is the place where a man invests his labor and wins a farm; to show that while other places may be near a good market; in Itasca the market is here. The Commercial Clubs of the county have sanctioned this Pub- licity Campaign and the business men of the county have subscribed the necessary funds. The first feature is to bring the facts about Itasca County home to our own people. This is done through this issue of the HEratp- REVvIEW—without cost to the subscription fund—as the readiest way of reaching all the county. Everycitizen known to the auditor's office receives a copy. A supply of printed matter for outside circulation has been pre- pared. A folder, to be scattered broadcast, comes first, issued in 100,000 copies, to be distributed by Commercial Clubs, merchants, land men, whoever can use them to advantage; by the Great Northern and the Northern Pacific exhibit cars; by the State Immigration Bureau; by the Northern Minnesota Development Bureau and like agencies. A booklet, “Itasca (county the Coming (‘ountry” follows that, to be used more sparingly in places where interest has already been attracted to the county. Other matter will be added tothe extent that funds permit. The campaign can be extended to any dimensions through the machinery that has been created. Printed matter is not, however, all of a publicity campaign. It is the tools to be used for publicity. The real campaign is the judicious use of printed matter and the hearty and systematic backing of the printed word. The campaign has been trusted to a Publicity Board, one member from each Commercial (lub, which will see to the dis- tribution and administration of the campaign. Settlers are coming this way. Itasca county offers them the best opportunity. By carrying out effectively the plans that have been carefully worked out, the tide may be turned more than ever in this direction and the development of the county may be hastened by years.
