The Village Council of the Village of Marble met at a special meeting on Monday, April first, A. D. 1912, at the houn of 8 p. m., this being the first meeting of the new council. Present, President Fitzgerald, Trustees Sullivan, Zingg and Clerk Curran. Absent, Trustee Ekman. Moved by Sullivan, seconded by Zingy, that the minutes of last meeting be dis- pensed with. The motion carried. The application of Geo. G. Gilbert, M. D., for the position of health officer ‘was’ read and on motion of Trustee Zingg seconded by Trustee Sullivan and duly carried Mr. Gilbert was appointed health officer for the ensuing fiscal J. H. Bushes application for village seavanger was then read and on mo- tion of Trustee Sullivan seconded by Trustee Zingg he was appointed. Ayes, Sullivan, Zingg, Fitzgerald and Curran. Nays, none. W. J. Allen made application for the position of village marshal for the en- suing) fiscal year and on motion of Trustee Sullivan seconded by Trustee Zingg and duly carried, he was appoint- ed. J, A, MacDonald’s application for the position of night policeman was read and on motion of Trustee Zingg second- id by Trustee Sullivan and duly car- ried he was appointed. McOuat & Peterson’s application to act as village attorneys for the ensuing fiscal year was read and it was moved by Trustee Sullivan, seconded by Trus- tee Zingg that they be appointed. The motion carried. ‘ Ordinance No. 10 was then read to the Council by Attorney Peterson, it be- ing an ordinance giving the village clerk authority to collect water and light ac- ‘counts and providing for monthly set- thetnents to the village treasurer of spid village. The application of S. F. Falk of Coler- aime for the position of village superin- tendent of water and light was read and ordered laid on table till next meeting. Ordinance No. Eleven, an ordinance {for the impounding of domestic animais and fowls running at large within the limits of the platted portion of the vil- lage of Marble, and for the penalties at- taching to the owners or custodians thereof, was presented to the council by President Fitzgerald. The attorney was instructed to draw up a sidewalk petition to be presented to the property holders on the following streets: South side of Ekman Ave. from Ethel to Jessie street. Both sides of Alice Ave. from Baw- den to Jessie street. North side of South Ave., Bthel street to alley D. West side of Ethel street, Ekman Aye to South avenue. Both sides of Sadie street, Ekman Ave to South Ave. to alley No, 2. Both sides of Bawden St. from Ek- man Ave. to South Ave. Both sides of Jessie St. from Ekman Ave. to Alice Ave. Messers Van Horn and Farr as a jcommittee from the fire department, asked for an appropriation of $150.00 to defray the running expenses of the department. It was moved by Clerk Curram seconded by Trustee Sullivan that the council appropriate $150.00 to the fire department, and Clerk be in- structed to issue voucher for same to Treasurer of said department, Ayes: Sullivan, Zingg, Fitzgerald, Cur ran./ Nays: None. Moved by’ Clerk Curran, seconded by Trustee Zingg that the appointment of! Julius Johnson as chief of the fire de- partment be approved by the council. Ayes: Sullivan, Zingg, Fitzgerald, Curran. An Ordinance Giving the Village Clerk Authority to Collect Water and Light Accounts, and Providing for Monthly Settlements to the Village Treasurer of Said Village. |The Village Council of tne Village of | Marble, Itasca County, Minnesota, do Ordain as follows: Section 1. The Village Clerk shall hereafter be authorized to collect from the consumers of water and light in the Village of Marble all accounts due from said con- sumers, at the rates set forth in Ordin- ance No. 9 of said village, and any amendment thereto which may now or hereafter be in force. Section 2. Every consumer of water and light shall paly to the Village Clerk of the Village of Marble the amounts due from aid consumers at the rates set forth in Ordinance No. 9 of said Village, and any amendments which may now or hereafter be in force. Receipts signed by said Village Clerk for amounts so paid shall be binding on said village. Section 3. The Village Clerk shall, on or before the 15th day of each month, deliver to the Village Treasurer all moneys re- ceived by him from water and light consumcrs, together with a statement, in writing, of the amount received from each eonsumer for the month preceed- ing the month in which settlement is made. Section 4. The ‘Village Clerk shall give bond to the Village of Marble in the sum of Five Hundred ($500.00) Dollars, condi- tioned that he will deliver to the Vil- lage Treasurer, as hereinbefore stated, all ‘moneys received by him from water and light consumers; and said bond shall be executed by the Village Clerk and two sureties to be approved by the ‘Village Council, or, he may furnish a surety bond executed by any responsible bonding company licensed to do business in the State of Minnesota. Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication. The Village Council of the Village of Marbie do Ordain as follows: Section 1. The Presitient of the Village of Mar- ble. shall, from time to time, detail one or more policemen, or some other suitable person or persons who shall be vested with the usual powers anil “Athorivy of police officers ot the said village, and the policemen or persons detailed shall perform and discharge all thiq duties required and enjoined upon them by this Ordinance, or which may hereafter be required of them by the Village Council. Section 3. No horse, mule, goat, sheep, swine, poultry, or any cattle, shall be permitt- ed td run at large at any time within the limits of the platted portion of said village, and if so found running at large eabh and every such animal or fowl shall bé impounded in the public pound by the person or persons detailed by virtue of Section One (1) of this Ordin-- ance. Said officer shall render monthly statements to the Village Council of al. fees, charges, sales or moneys re- celved by him, and pay the amount over to the City Treasurer and take his receipt therfor. Section 7. | Any person who shall break open, or in any manner directly or indirectly, aid or abet in breaking open any pound, designed as such by the Village Presi- dent, shall, on conviction thereof be- fore a Justice of the Peace, be punish- ed by a fine of not less than One ($1.00 or more than Fifty ($50.00) Dollars. Section 8.
