Ninth inning—McCabe drove out a fly which was picked up by Bran- don in center field. Murray’s pop-up was caught by McAlpine, at short, and Shovien got to first on a single, but this did him no good, as Reane- aud’s pop-up was cauhtg by Benton. Betz got to first on the third base- man’s error, but was afterward put out by a throw from the pitcher to first. The crowd, however, kicked on this decision, claiming he was safe. Erskine got to first on anoth- er error by the first sacker and got first on a fielder’s choice. Erskine came home on Whal- ing’s single and Brandon was caught out attempting to make home plate. McAlpine’s fowl was caught by Ros- setter, This made the score a tie, 1 to 1 at the end of the ninth in- ning. Tenth inning—Wiles dtd Newberg both struck out and McCabe’s ground er went to first. Benton binged a pop-up to thir and Costello was put out on an as- sist by the pitcher to first. Powers struck out. Eleventh inning—Whaling made @ Brandon reputation this inning, striking out Murray, Nelson and McCabe in rapid order. Following is the game by innings: First inning—Reaneaud was first up for Proctor and promptly batted a fly to Powers in right field. Wiles struck out and Shovien batted to Arsenault, which gave him an assist on the throw to first. Lee got to first on the third base- man’s error but was caught out by the shortstop in attempting to steal second. Whaling’s liner was picked up by the shortstop and McAlpine got first on the right fielder’s error, success- fully stealing second and coming home on Benton’s two bagger, who in turrn got to third on a wild throw by Rossetter and came home on Ar- senault’s sacrifice. The latter being thrown out at first. Powers singled and stole second, but died on Lee’s grounder to Wiles. Sixth imning—Nelson batted to Arsenault and McCabe to Lee, both | being thrown out at first. Wiles got busy this inning, striking out three men straight, Betz, Er- skine and Brandon.
