A regular meeting of the village coun- cil was held at the village hall this 8th day of May, 1911, at 8 o’clock p. m. Members present: Trustees King, Ar- scott, Russell, and Recorder Sherman. Upon motion of ~Trustee Arscott, sec- onded by Recorder Sherman that Trus- tee King be elected president pro tem, motion carried unanimously. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The monthly reports of Vilage Treas- urer and justice of the peace were read and ordered filed. Motion was made by Trustee Arscott and seconded by Trustee Russell that the salary of the village recorder be set at $400.00 per year to take effect on and after May Ist. Motion carried. Motion was made by Trustee Arscott and seconded by Trustee Russell fhat the village attorney be instructed to draw up an ordinance to regulate the speed of automobiles within the village limits, same to be acted upon at the next regular meeting of the village council. A number of residents residing in the vicinity of Sleeper avenue and Seventh street were present and requested the council to have a grade established along Sleeper avenue across the creek. The matter was referred to the com- mittee on streets, alleys and sewers. Mr. Will Nisbett of the town board was present and stated that the town board was, about to make arrangements to gravel west Third street for a dis- tance of two blocks, beginning at Hud- son’s corner and running east toward the pavement. Mr. Nisbett suggested that the village gravel the remaining one block to the pavement.
