Take notice that you are in de- fault, under and according to the terms, conditions and provisions of that certain contract, dated the 4th day of August, 1906, whereby Edward A. Kremer and Fred A. Pursuant to adjournment the board of county commissioners of Itasca county met at the court house in the village of Grand Rapids this 1st day of September, 1910, at ten o'clock A. M. All members of the board present. It being the time set for hearing upon the petition for the establish- ment of county road No. 87, the com- mittee appointed to examine the routs of said road filed their report, in which they recommended that the prayer of the petitioners be granted. Commissioner Mullins moved that report of the committee be approved; that said highway be and the same is hereby ordered established accord- ing to the committee’s report; and that the advantages and benefits to each description of land over which said road runs be and are hereby assessed equal to the damages sus- tained. The motion was seconded by Commissioner King and carried by unanimous vote. Commissioner O’Brien moved that the county auditor be instructed to advertise for bids for the construction of a highway beginning at the point where the section line on the south side of section 12, township 61, range 26, intersects the Kinney Trail road and running thence east on sec- tion line to the southeast corner of said section 12; thence north on range line on east side of said sec- tion 12 to the quarter post on the west side of section. 7, township 61, range 25; thence east on quarter line across said section 7 to the quarter post on the east side of said section 7; thénce north on section line on east side of sections 7 and 6 to the point where said section line strikes the Bigfork river. Also, for the construction of a bridge across Bigfork river on said road at the point where the section line on the south side of section 12, township 61, range 26 crosses said river. The motion was duly seconded and carridd. A petition was presented for the establishment of a highway commenc- ing at the village of Deer River and running thence in a _ southeasterly direction parallel with the Great Northern railway to Weller’s Spur. Upon motion of Commissioner Tre- bilcock seconded by Commissioner Mullins, said petition was laid over to the next meeting. It being the time set for hearing upon the petition of J. P. Hine- gardner to detach certain agricultural lands from the village of Grand Rapids the same was then taken under consideration. Upon motion hearing was continued to two o'clock . m. Commissioner Mullins moved that the sum of $200.00 be appropriated from the county road and bridge fund to the town of Trout Lake to aid said town in the construction of a highway beginning at the southwest corner of section 10, in said township, and running thence east on section line on south side of said section 10. The motion was seconded by Commis- sioner King and carried by unani- mous vote. A petition requesting the board to repair and grade the road running from Blackberry to Trout Lake was then presented. Commissioner Treb- bilcock moved that the chairman appoint a committee of two to examine said road and ascertain the condition of the same. The motion was seconded by Commissioner King and carried by unanimous vote. % Chairman McWilliams then appoint ed Commissioners Mullins and Tre- bileock as such committee. The matter of the improvement of a road at Jessie Lake junction was referred to a committee consisting of Commissioners King and O’Brien. The hearing upon the petition for the establishment of county road No. 80 was continued to the next meeting to be held on the 5th day of October An adjournment was then taken to 1:30 o’clock p. m, Pursuant to adjournment the board again met at 1:30 p. m. Commissioner Trebilcock - moved that the sum of $250.00 be approp- against the granting of said petition. Mr. J. D. Hinegardner, the petition- er, was also present and was heard in behalf of the petition, Commissioner O’Brien moved that the following order be adopted: Order Detaching Certain Lands From the Village of Grand Rapids. Whereas, a petition signed by J. D, Himegardner as owner of the lands hereinafter described, asking that an order be made detaching said lqnds from the village of Grand Rap- ids was presented to the county board of this county at a session of said board’ held on the 11th day of July, 1910, for the action of said board thereon. And whereas, it was then ordered by said board that a hearing be had upon said petition at a session of said board o be held on the first day of September, 1910, at the county court house in the village of Grand Rapids in said county; And whereas, due notice of the time and place of said hearing has been given by serving a copy of said notice upon the village record- er of said village and by publication of said notice for two successive weeks in the Itasca County Independ- ent, the official newspaper of said village, and; Whereas, said petition has now been publicly read and considered and arguments of all persons inter- ested therein have been duly heard and considered; It is hereby ordered, that said pe- tition be granted and the following described lands, to-wit: The NW% of NE\% and S% of NE% of section 29, township 55. range R5, be and the same are here- by detached from said village of Grand. The bids for the improvement of the Blackberry road were then open- ed and read. The bids being as fol- lows: M. CaHahan for grubbing and ditch ing 18¢c per cubic yard, for making fills 25¢ per cubic yard, for sand hauled for top dressing 30¢ per cubic yard. Necessary culverts to be furr; ished by,the county and put in with- out extra charge. C. G. ‘Anderson, $3.00 per rod for grubbing, ditching and grading and 35c¢ per cubic yard for all filling and top dressing. ‘ Grand Rapids Improvement com- pany, to complete said road accord- ing to specifications for the sum of $6.00 per rod. Commissioner Trebilcock moved that the bid of M. Callahan be accept ed and that the Chairmam and the County Auditor be instructed to en- ter into a contract with said M. Cal- lahan for the construction and com- pletion of said road within 60 days from this date. The motion was sec- onded by Commissioner O’Brien and carried by unanimous vote. _ Commissioner Trebileock and Mul- lins were appointed a committee to examine the work done by W. F. Fulton upon the Fulton road. The bids for gravelling state road No. 1 between Grand Rapids and Co- hasset were then opened and read. Bids being received as follows: Grand Rapids Improvement Co. at the following rates: 40 rod haul and under 23 cents per yard. 80 rod haul and under 35 cents per yard. % mile haul and under 65 cents per rod. % mile haul and under 85 cents per yard. 1 mile haul and under $1.00 per yard. 1% mile haul and under $1.15 per yard. 1% mile haul and under $1.25 per yard. M. Callahan 58¢ per yard for all gravel hauled one mile or less; for each quarter mile in excess of one mile 2%c per yard extra. Also, ag- greeing to run grader over that part of the road where gravel is not need- ed for the sum of $30.00 J. S. Lofberg, at the rate of 62%c per yard for 80 rods of haul. Commissioner Mullins moved that the bid of M. Callahan be accepted and that a contract be ehtered into with said Callahan to complete said work by the 15th day of November, 1910. The motion was seconded by Commissioner O’Brien and carried by unanimous vote. Bids for painting the Poor Farm buildings were then opemed and read Bids being received as follows: Calvin D. Horton for $228.00 Van Dusen & Fish for $325.00. Ed. Jeffers for $275.00. » “Wm. Ashton for $210.00. Commissioner Trebilcock moved that the bid of Wm. Ashton be ac- cepted. The motion .was seconde by Commissioner Mullins and carried by unanimous vote. Upon motion of Commissioner King seconded by ; Commissioner Mullins the plats of Bergville Cemetery and McKinney Lake Addition to Grand Rapids were approved and the county auditor instructed to so certify the same. A petition of the board of supervis- ors of the town of Nashwauk was then presented, which petition set, forth the facts that the town ot Nashwauk as_ originally organiz contained all of the townships 56 and 57 of ranges 22 and 23; that thereafter the town of Greenway was organized out of that part of the town of Nashwauk described as “Resolved, that the sum of $300.00 be and the same is hereby appropri- ated from the County Road and Bridge fund to the town of Oteneagen to aid said town in the repair and construction of roads and bridges. Resolved further, that the sum of $300.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated from the County Road and Bridge Fund to the town of Nore to aid said town in the repair and construction of roads and bridges Resolved further, that the sum of $300.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated from the county road and bridge fund to the town of Third River to aid said town in the repair and construction of roads and bridges. Resolved further, that the sum of $300.00 be and the same _ is hereby appropriated from the County Road and Bridge fund to the town of Moose Park to aid said town in the repair and construction of roads and bridges.. Resolved further, that the sum of $300.00 ibe and the same are hereby appropriated from the County Road and Bridge fund to the town of Good Hope to aid said town in the repair and construction of roads and bridges. Resolved further, that the sum of $250.00 be appropriated from the County Road and Bridge fund to the town of Bass Lake. $150.00 of said amount to be expended in the im- provement of old right-of-way road and $100.00 upon road _ connecting with Prairie River road. The motion to adopt the resolution was seconded by Commissioner O’- Brieh and carried by unanimous vote. The bids for the construction of «County road No. 74 as continued from the last meeting were again taken up. Mr. E. BE. Skoe was present and stated that C. B. Gallagher, one of the bidders, and the only bidder making a. proposition to construct the entire road, the amount of the bid being $4,000.00, desired to withdraw his bid,, and that he E. E. Skoe, an associate, would agree to take the work off C. B. Gallagaher’s hands and agree to the terms and_ condi- tone as stated in said Gallagher’s bid. After considerable discussion of the | matter Commissioner Trebilcock moved that the same be continued until the next meeting. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Mul- lins ‘and carried, the vote being as follows: “Yea” Commissioners _Trebilcock, Mullins, O’Brien and MeWilliams. “Nay” Commissioner King. Commissioner Trebilcock moved that the county surveyor be instruct- ed to complete the survey of county road No. 56, so that the same will connect with road between and Moose lakes. seconded by Commissioner Mullins ahd carried by unanimous vote. A petition for the establishment of an election _ district to be composed of unorganized town- ships 148, range 27, was then pre- sented. Commissioner Trebilcock moved the adoption of the following resolution: “Resolved, that unorganized town- ship 148, range 27, be and the same is hereby established and created an election district; that the boundaries of said election district be and the same are hereby fixed in accordance with the outside boundary lines of said township as shown by the gov- ernment survey thereof; that said election district be named “Round Lake” and that the polling place for said election district be designated as the school house in section 15 of said township.” The motion for the adoption of the resolution was seconded by Com- missioner King and carried by unani- mous vote. A petition was presented for the organization of an election district to be composed of unorganized town- ship 146,, range 26 and townships 146, range 27 and 147 range 27.
