PROCEEDINGS “= OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSION ERS, Itasca County, Minnesota, a Grand Rapids, Minn., Oct 12, 1909 Pursuant to notice given by the county auditor, in accordance with the provisions of section 2673 of the revised laws of 1905, a special meet- ing of the board of county commis- sioners, Itasca county, Minnesota,| was held at the office of the county auditor in the village of Grand Rap- ids, this 12th day of October, 1909, at 3-o’clock p. m. All members present: The county auditor then read the resignation of A. A. Kremer as county treasurer of said county, the same having been filed in the county auditor’s office on the 12th day of October, 1909. Commissioner O’Brien moved that the resignation of A. A. Kremer, as county treasurer of the county of Itasca be accepted. The motion was seconded by Commissioner McWilliam and carried by a unanimous vote. Commissioner King moved that the board go into executive session for a few minutes. The motion was second- ed by Commissioner O’Brien and carried} by unanimous vote. At 5:30 o’clock p. m. the board ad- journed to 7:30 o’clock p.m. Pursu- ant to adjournment the board again met at 7:30 o’clock p. m., this 12th day of October, 1909. All members of the board present. Commissioner Trebilcock offered the following resolution and moved it adoption: “Resolved, That whereas, Mr. M. F. Kain, assistant public examiner of the state of Minnesota, having made a partial. examination of the books and accounts of the county treasurer of said county,’ and “Whereas, it appears from such ex- amination as far as the same has pro- gressed that gross and grave irreg- ularities appear inthe keeping of said accounts in said office and the funds of said county, and “Whereas, it further appears from such examination that there is at the present time a substantial short- age in the funds belonging to said Itasca county, which should be at the present time in the hands of said County Treasurer, and Whereas, Arthur A. Kremer, the duly elected, qualified and acting County Treasurer immediately upon the discovery of such shortage by the assistant public examiner tenderer his resignation to take effect immediately and Whereas, by reason of the report of said Assistant Public Examiner, said Arthur A. Kremer was immedi- ately; suspended and the office of county treasurer is now vacant and unoccupied. Therefore be it resolved, that Glenn Strader be and he is hereby appoint- ed County Treasurer of said County of Itasca, to succeed the said Arthur A. Kremer and to fill out the un- expired term of said office, for which the said Arthur A. Kremer was elect- ed. Be it further resolved, that the saic Glen Strader before entering upon the dis charge of his duty, do execute a bond or bonds in the penal sum of One Hundred Thousand Dollars, as prescribed by statute, such bond or bonds to be approved by this board.” The motion to adopt the foregoing resolution was seconded by Com- missioner McWilliams and upon roll call, the vote was as follows: ‘Yea’, Commissioners King, Trebileock and MeWilliams. “Nays’’, Commissioners Mullins.and O’Brien. Chairman Mul- lins then declared the resolution duly adopted and Glen Strader duly ap- pointed County Treasurer of the county of Itasca for the unexpired term. A special meeting of the Village Council was held, pursuant to due notice given to all members of the council. President Bossard, Trustees Leroux, Remer and Recorder Yancey were present. Minutes of the previous meetings were readjand approved. Grand | Rapids, Minn., Oct. 14, 1909. An adjourned meeting of the Vil- lage Council was held at the council room. President Bossard and} Trustees Leroux and Remer were present. The electric light superintendent was instructed to hire all the help necessary for all work to be done in the village as per instructions; to fix switches for all incandesant street lighting ; to place arc lamps on De- Laittre avenue at 4th and 6th streets, and to replace different are lamps where needed. Moved and seconded that the Village recorder have his of- fice at the Village Hall, his office hours to be from 9 a. m. to 12 m. and from 2p.m. to 5 p. m. and on the first two days of each month to be at his office between the hours of 7p. m. and 8 p. m. The electric light committee was instructed to purchase globes and lamps for street lighting purposes. On motion the council adjourned to October 18, 1909, at 8 o’clock p. m. W. C. YANCEY, Recorder. Gentlemen:— The undersigned, as owners of all the property abutting on that part of said streets, asked to be vacated, re- spectfully pray and ask your honor- able body to vacate the following des- cribed ‘parts of streets as shown on the attached plat: First. street, from the west line of Kindred avenue, west to where the same ends in the river; Hoffman avenue, from the north line of the south half of blocks 28 and 29, south to the south line of block 47. Houghton avenue, from the north line of the south half of blocks 29 ‘and 30, south to the south line of block 49. The property is to be used in con- nection with the manufacturing plant located! on blocks 37 and 38.
