Itasca county, Minn.. was held at the town hall in the village of*Grand Rap- ids. Minn.. the 5th day of December, 1908, at 7:30 o’elock p. m. Present: Supervisors Hache Ewan, Chairman McDonald and Mahon. ‘ The minutes of meetings of Nov. 9th and 14th were read and approved, Supervisor McEwan presented the foflow- iog resolution and moved its adoption: “Whereas, the delinquent road and bridge fund is overdrawn 12 cents. and “Whereas, there is a balance in the general revenue fund of $151.43, in the road and bridge fund of $7.14, in the poor fund of $4.34, in the bonds and interest fund of $253.55. and in the speciul delinquent road fund of $53.40,in all balances of $469.36, and “Whereas, there is not sufficient money in any of the above named funds to pay the registered warrants outstanding against any one of the above named funds in rotation as they were registered, and “Whereas, there is due and payable the sum of $325.00 interest on outstanding bonds, due and payable Dec. 10, 1908, and “Whereas, the treasurer has recently re- deemed orders Nos. 249 and 389, amounting to $219.22. and the treasurer failed to pay the accumulated interest of $10.21 upon said or- ders so redeemed, and “Whereas, it is for the best interests of the township that said items of interest be paid at once when due. and that the said balances in said funds be converted into a ffnd that will allow said interest items and other claims to be paid. “Now therefore, be it and it is hereby re- solved and declared that there be transferred from the poor fund to the delinquent road and bridge fund the sum of 12 cents to cover seo overdraft in said last mentioned fund, an “Further, that the balances remaining in all the funds heretofore recited. afcer deducting the said sum of 12 cents hereinbefore trans- ferred. be and the said balances are hereb: transferred to a contingent fund, the whic! last named fund is hereby created and author- ized to be created by the town clerk and treasurer upon their records, and said town clerk and treasurer are hereby directed to cause such transfers to be made, and “Further, the said town cierk is directed to issue warrants against said contingent fund as mar be hereafter directed by the board and the treasurer is directad to pay out of said contingent fund such warrants as may be issued against the moneys lying and being in said contingent fund so created.” Supervisor Hachey seconded the motion to adopt said resolution and upon a call Supervisors Hachey and McEwan and Chair- man McDonald voted “aye”. There being no “nays” Chairman McDonald declared the resolution carried and directed the town clerk to notify the town treasurer of its adoption. Upon motion of Supervisor McEwan. sec- onded by Supervisor McDonald, the clerk was directed to issue a warrant for $325.00 on the contingent fund in favor of the First State Bank of Grand Rapids, Minn., to pay the interest due upon outstanding bonds. which said interest becomes due Dec. 10, 1908 also to issue warrants upon said contingent fund in favor of John McDonald for $20.00, for salary as supervisor to Dec. 31, 1908; to Hugh McEwan for $20.00. for salary as supervisor to Dec. 31, 1908; to Edward'Hacltey for $20.90, for salary as supervisor to Dec. 31, 1908; to Jos. Fuller appeared before the board and made claim for damages by reason of injuries received while handling dynamite for town- ship.. After a diseussion a proposition of Mr. Fuller to release the township from all claims for damages and to perform certain work at culvert near Lofberg’s cement works, it was voted that said Fuller be allowed what wood had been cleared from the right of way on the Bovey road, but no saw logs should be tuken. Fuller to execute and file with the town Clerk a release of all claims for damages sustained by him as aforesaid. * The bills of the King Lumber Co. and A. C. Blowers were laid over until aext meeting. Supervisor McEwan presented the follow- ing resolution and moved its adoption. viz: »Whereas, the township has a large number of orders and warrants Outstanding, and the treasury is depleted; “Now therefore, be it reeolved, that it is to the best interests of the township that the outstanding indebtedness of the town of Grand Rapids be refunded and that the bonds be issued to refund said indebtedness, and “Further, that the question of refunding said indebtedness and of using bonds so to liquidaie the outstanding debts of the town- ship, be submitted to the voters of the town. ship at the spring election of 19¢9.” The motion to adopt the resolution was duly seconded and carried by a unanimous vote. . SuperviSors Hachey and McEwan and Chair- man McDonald voted “aye”. There being no “nays” the adoption of the rssolution was declared by the chairman. By a unanimous vote the oyerseer was in- structed to complete all work by Nov. 15. 1908, and have all tools and machinery of the town- ship delivered at the town hall on the even- ing of said day. W. F. Fulton appeared before the board and reported that a culvert on the State road was in bad condition.
