Publication. Grand Rapids. Minn., June 28, 1907. A special meeting of the Village Council was held in the council room at 8 o'clock p. m., due notice of such meeting being given. President Powers, and Trustees Bossard, Root and Leroux, and Recorder Yancey re- sponded to roll call. Notice of the June tax apportionment was received from the county auditor, being in the sum of $4,835.35, to be credited to tbe vil- lage funds as follows: Corporations, $741.32; Sidewalk, $112.27; Sinking, $751.45; Light in- terest, $581.16; Water interest, $613.96 ; Library, $486.05; Lighting, $822.52; Judgment. 8752.12; Removing garbage, $1.50. A petition was received from Geo, F. Meyers and others for the lowering of the grade on Leland avenue and Seventh street and the meaptcr was laid over for further investiga- tion. Moved and carried that an ordinance be drawn to establish the grade on Leland ave- nue between Fourth street and the railroad tracks, on a level with the man-hole at the corner of Leland avenue and Fourth street, and the railroad track level. The recorder was instructed to advertise for proposals for building cement sidewalks. On motion duly made and carried the vil- lage atterney’s salary was fixed in the sum of 3600.00 for the current year, instead of $400.00. .On motion of Trustee Bossard, Ordinance No. 53. entitled, ‘An ordinance to amend sec- tion 2 of Ordinance No. 43, entitled, “An ordinance relating to the construction of sidewalks and erie 8 shade trees in the streets and avenues of the Village of Grand Rapids,” was placed on its first Tending. On motion’ duly made and carried. Urdinance No. 53 was passed to its second reading. An Ordinance to amend Section Two of Ordi- nance Number Forty-three. entitled, ‘An ordinance relating to the construction of sidewalks and planting of shade trees in the streets and avenues of the Village of Grand Rapids The Village Council of the Village of Grand Rapids do ordain as follows: Section 1. That section 2 of Ordinance No. 43 of the Village of Grand Rapids be and the is hereby amended so as to read as fol- Section 2, When any sidewalk shall hereafter be constructed upon and along any public street or avenue of said village, such side- walk shall be constructed of cement of the type and quality usually employed for that purpose, laid upon the proper grade therefor. of uniform width, and, except as hereinafter otherwise provided, of the widths hereinafter designated, to-wit: Upon streets or avenues 80 or more feet wide, & feet. Upon streets or avenues 60 feet wide. 5 feet. Upon streets or avenues 50 feet wide, 4 feet. Upon streets or avenues 40 feet wide, 4 feet. And in every case except as in this ordi- nance otherwise provided, its inside or prop- erty side shall be two feet from the line of the property fronting upon said street or avenue. except. on and along Seventh street in said village, where said sidewalk shall be so placed that its inside or property side shall be one foot from the line ef the abutting property; and on said street tne curb constructed parallel thereto shall be Shree feet distant from the outer side of said sidewalk.
