The fire laddies and citizens with teams certainly deserve credit for quick work. The damage to the building is small, C. W. Swanson, a butcher, made a futile attempt at suicide Monday at Nashwauk by cutting his throat with arazor. He was under the influence of liquor when he tried to kill him- self. He slashed himself once, cutting a deep gash, just missing an artery, and was about to repeat the act when a bystander interfered and took the razor from him. Dr. Pearce sewed the wound up, taking a number of sutches. Swanson has been brooding over the idea that his enemies were after him and when drinking to excess gets the idea all the stronger.
