HOLD MEETING The board of county commissioners were in session Thursday and Friday, fimshing up the business about 9 o’clock last evenigg. Commissioner King brought up the matter of handling county prisoners in some manner that would give them less cause to kick on the treatment accorded them by the sheriff. He suggested that they be sentenced to hard labor and be put to work for the county, building roads. After some discussion his plan was adopted and hereafter county prisoners will be given exercise. Judge of Probate Huson was _al- lowed clerk hire to the amount of one- quarter of his yearly salary, in accord ance with chapter 322 of the laws of 1907. ‘ W. E. Martin was appointed as county superintendent of roads at a salary of $5.00 per day for time actu- aliy spent in behalf of the county. ama, Gra fof each month. properly cared for. . The management abnuounce a Special “Bargain Matapee” in this city on Wednesday June 19, at Village hall when the same performance will be given asat the night show, but the prices will be greatly reduced, The program this season is made up with the special idea of pleasing ladies and children. Remember the matinee will take place, rain or shine. The register of deeds was instructed to complete the original entry books ata salary of $5.00 per day for work done by the principa! and $2.50 per day for an assistant. The auditor was instructed to ad- vertise for bids to build the Vermillion road and part of the Oaks road, Township 56, range 25, was organ- ized and given the name of Prairie Lake. One hundred and fifty dollars was appropriated for repairs on the Deer River-Ballclub road; $300 to the town- ship of Carpenter to assist in road and bridge work; $100 to the poor farm road; $150 to the King road in 62-26; $200 to Trout Lake township to assist mn building the Bovey road; $125 to repair the Carter road north of Co- hasset.
