HOLD MEETING The board of county commissioners were in session Thursday and Friday, fimshing up the business about g o’clock last evening. Commussioner King brought up the matter of handling county prisoners in some manner that would give them less cause to kick on the treatment accorded them by the sheriff. He suggested that they be sentenced to hard labor and be put to work for the county, building roads. After some discussion his plan was adopted and hereafter county prisoners will be given exercise. Judge of Probate Husen was al- lowed clerk hire to the amount of one- quarter of his yearly salary, in accord ance with chapter 322 of the laws of 1907. W. E. Martin was appointed as county superintendent of roads at a salary of $5.00 per day for time actu- ally spent in behalf of the county. The register of deeds was instructed to complete the original entry books ata salary of $5.00 per day for work done by the principat and $2.50 per day for an assistant. The auditor was instructed to ad- vertise for bids to build the Vermillion road and part of the Oaks road. Township 56, range 25, was organ- ized and given the name of Prairie Lake. One hundred and fifty dollars was Dr. Larson, the eye special ist, will be at Hotel Pokeg- ama, Grand Rapids, the 15th and 16th of each month.
