Jones came down from Cohasset on Wednesday and says the town 1s growing Ike Hilhs of Wakefield, Michigan, was in the Rapids a few days this week visiting fnends. Miss Della Yancy, returned Thurs- day, from Garlton College where she has been attending school. Yhe Ladies Aid, of the Lutheran church will meet with Mrs Gilman ‘Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Miss. Mae McKinnon _ returned wednesday to Cass Lake, after spend- ing a week with her parents here. Don’t forget the Easter ball Mon day evening at Village hall given by King’s Orchestra. Every body invited. Mrs. J. Murchie and son Colon, re- turned Wednesday, \from a visit to New Brunswick, Canada, where they have been visiting several months. Victor Romans returned Tuesday from an extended tnp through the southern states and says that, this country 1s far ahead of the southern states, William Kremer, father of the Kremer boy’s starts for his old home in Saginaw Mich. next Monday and will spend the summer there with his daughter. Jarvis Partridge, an old Rapids boy who has been teaching science in the high school at Wadena was appvuinted to the same position for the coming year, The Whist club entertained their husbands ‘Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Luther. Duplicate Whist was played, anda very nice lunch was served, As usual every one had a good time. The logging camps are all braking up and the men are getting away as fast as_ possible There was a large number of woodsmen came to Grand Rapids this week and there will probably be great many more next week, Miss Ada Kremer returned home yesterday from school for a short Easter visit with her parents. She graduates in June and will occupy the position of assistant superintendent in the public schools at Wadena the coming school year. Geo F. Meyers has been drawn as a petit juror in the U. S. court at Minneapolis and will go down Mon- day to be there at the opening of court Tuesday the 2d imst. A. A. Kremer will go down and act as grand juror at the same time. The Maccabees will give a mask ball in Village hall on Thursday April 4th. A cash prize of $2.00 wilk be given to the best costume and $1.50 fgr the most comical costume. Supper will be served in the hall for 25 cents. Tickets to the dance 50 cents. The new council organized son day night with the officers as follows; H_ D. Powers, president; A. C. The minutes of March 11th, 1907 were read and same were approved as read, Applications of Doran Brothers, Hepfel. James McDonald, Grant and and John Rellis, for license to sell into: ting liquors were presented and the hearing said applications set for April 15, 1907 at 8 p. m. at the recorders’ office, The following appointments were then made: village uttorney.
