BRIDGET RELLIS The following is from. the Saginaw {Mich.) Evening News: Deatn released the sufferings of Mrs. Bridget Rellis Wednesday even- ing, and she entered into rest after long weeks of pain and illness, during which her life had been dispaired of many times. That dread malady, cancer, developed. in her throat almost a year ago, and from the first she had recognized what the end would be and looked forward to it with courage and fortitude’ which comes only with faith and a true Christian spirit. For days’she. had been unconscious but toward the last she rallied and passed away at 9:30 o'clock last evening recognizing those of her family who were able to he present and conscious to the last. With the passing away of Mrs, Rellis auother of the women who can with honor be numbered among the pios neers of Saginaw, the roll call adds one more to the list of those going to the other shore, and her memory will not soon be forgotten. For 35 years Mr. and Mrs. Rellis were among the best known and most highly respected people of the South side, Mr. Rellis having been in the hotel business in the homestead at 803 Mackinaw street, where they reared their fam- ‘ ily and where they passed away, Mr. Rellis preceding his wife by about fifteen years. Bridget Long was # native of Ireland, county Wexford, and was born November 1, 1831. She came as a girl to Canada, where forty- six years ago she was united in mar- riage to Jobn Rellis. Of their family seven® children survive, Mrs P W nedy, Mrs A V Holahan, of Dus luth; Mrs W W Wright, of Grand Rapids, Minn; Mrs Charter Burruss, of Manila, P 1; Michael, of Sault Ste Marie; John, of Grand Rapids, Minn, aod Miss Emma Rellis, of this city. She also leaves a brother,- Michael Long, of Saginaw. During the nearly three-quarters of a century of life the esteemed lady was a devoted believer in the Roman Catholic faith and a loyal member of St Mary’s church.
