An exchange knew what it was writing about about when it published the following: “The trade terntory of a town is not dependent upon the distance to neighboring trading points, The territory depends upon the enter- prise of the merchants and residents of the town, . If the town dues not reach out after the trade it will only come asit has to and the town will only grow as it is forced to. But If the merchants go after the business in the surrounding country, advertise it in every possible way and make every word of their advertising the trade will come from an ever increasing radius and the town will gain a repu- tation for wide awake and will forge to the front. Itis the men in the town and not altogether the men liv- ing within a certain number of miles from it that makes a good town.” i George F.
