Brady appeared be- fore the Isoard and presented a_peti- tion on behalf of John Hedquist and Gust Hedquist, for a dam across Deer River. Alter discussing the matter at some length Commissioner Everton offered the following resolution: — Whereas, John Hedquist and Gust Hedquist did on this 14th day of June A. Now, therefore, it is hereby re- solved, that license to construct, re- pairand maintain adam suitable for sing a head of water sufficient to drive logs, timber and lumber down said stream at the point named in said petition be granted to John Hedquist and Gust Hedquist for a period of six years from date hereof and the rate of toll to ve fixed in suchJicense shall be the sum of five (5) cents per thous- and feet for all logs, timber or lumber sluiced through said dam. said license to be executed and delivered to said John Hedquist and Gust Hedquist in the manner required by law upon the filing of a bond by said applicants with two or more sureties to be approved by the Board of County Commission- ers in the sum of $1,000, with a condi- tion that they will construct repair apd maintain said dam witb all rea- sunable diligence and skill for slucing logs timber and lumber and to faci i tate the driving of the same in said Deer River, and on the further condi- tion that said applicants 2llow one- half (+) of the natural flow of water in said Deer River torun during the months of July, August, September and October of each year, aud that} said applicants and boudsmen will be responsible and make good any dam- age that may be caused by the over- flow of water from said dam. A petition from Angus McIntosh asking for a rebate on tax certiticates was received and referred to the county attorney for an-opinion as to 'the legality of granting the rebate asked for. Ab application was received from W. B. Yhtchell, asking for an abate- ment of taxes upon the set of the net section 14 town 55 range 26, and ac: companied by a certificate from the United States land office showing that the land was government land ab the time it was assessed. Upon mo- tion the abatement was referred to the state anditor for his approval. An application from Hon. Warren Potter, was received, asking for an abatement of taxes upon jot 7 of sec- tion 20, town 55, range 25, and upo1 motion the same was rejected. An application. was received from L. F. Kuox asking for an abatement of taxes upon lot 10 block 27 original plat of Grand Rapids, aud. upon mo- tion the same was rejected. At this time an adjournment was taken to 10 o’clock a. m. June 15th. ADJOURNED MEETING. Pursuant to adjournment the Board met at 10 o’clock a, m, Roll call, members present commis- sioners Everton, Fuller, Leeman and Rellis. An application was presented from M. Shelly by D. Mt Gunu asking for an abatement of penalties and intei- est upon lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 in bluck 11, lots 7,8, and Yin block 10, lots 16, 17, and 18, block 27, Lots 1, 2. and 3, block 28 lot 6 in Park Row. »16 in block 37, all in Kearney’s F uddition. On motion the same was granted.
