A.J, Doyle of Grand Forks, N. D. a brother-in-law of Henry Logan, has been here on a visit during the week. He returned to the Forks today. Al. Phillips has — concluded that there is money to be made on his Split Hand farm, and_ will shortly move thereto and become a genuine agriculturist. Mrs, W. V. Fuller arrived from Grand Forks on Wednesday. where she had spent the winter with her daughter Bertha, who is attending school in that city. Angus McIntosh has let a contract to J. S. Lofkerg for a considerable addition to his house on Kindred avenue. The oid structure will be entirely remodeled. About $500 wiil be expended in making the change, John O’Brien came down from the dam works this week on a business trip. He is now im the employ of the government, hauling supplies to Winnibigoshish dam. He had a very successful winter logging. Mrs. Wade Blaker has sold her residexce on North Leland avenue to J. W. Taft. Mrs. Blaker expects to Jeave Grand Rapids in a month or so on a visit to relatives in Kansas. after which she will join her husband at Ft. Selkirk, Alaska. County Treasurer Miller has pur- chased the residence on the corner of Houghton avenue and Sixth street, formerly owned by F. A. McVicar, and has moved his family therein. ‘The house vacated by the Millers 1s now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. W. ¥. Sims. ; Ed Joppich, the man who stabbed Louis Anderson at Powers camp near Hibbing, in this county, was brought here this week and bound over tu the grand jury. Hes now in-the coun- ty jail. Anderson is reported as re- covering. Mrs. R. S.. Crandall will give her spring opening Wednesday and Thursday, April 1g and 20. All ladies, misses and children are cor- dially invited to call and inspect our stock. This seasons’ millinery is beautiful and itis theught all will be amply paid for their trouble. Mrs. R. S. Crandall. Some of the ladies who interested themselves in purchasing the piano for Village hall are convinced that the instrument is being. ruined in the hall, and they are considering the advis- ability of removing it to some private house where it will not be constantly exposed to extreme changes of tem- perature.
