Seelye was in town Wednes- day, returning to his camps on the reservation the same evening. Mrs. F. M. Fletcher, of Farming- ton, Minn., arrived Tuesday evening on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. R. S. Crandall. Wednesday's Magnet announced an entertainment to be given by the ladies of the G. A. R. at the village hall Saturday Feb’y 12th, but it has been postponed indefinately, owing to their inability to secure the village hall which*was previously rented to Marks Bros, W. V. Fuller made a business trip to Deer River last Tuesday, matters pertaining to his lumber yard at that place calling him there. Mrs. Ben Johnson left Thursday morning for a two months’ visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E, S. Berg- strom, at Barnum, Minn. Jas. Sullivan, of Deer River, passed through here Wednesday morning en route to Duluth to spend the balance of the week in the Zenith city. Exercises commemorative of the 17th anniversary of the founding of the Epworth League were held in the Presbyterian church last Wednesday evening. Lee West came down from his camp on Winnibigoshish reservation _ on Wednesday, and spent the day in town. Lee reported logging ‘opera- uons on the reservation as progress- ing favorably. ‘There will be a meeting of the Ladies’ Guild of the Episcopal church held at the residence of Mrs. Wade Blaker on Thursday afternoon, Feb’y roth, at 2:30 o’clock. Will Maddy, who has charge of the Winnebigosl.ish reservoir, was in town the fore part of the week, to the joy of his host of friends hereabouts. He was given free board and lodging at Hotel d’foole for thirty days. A card sociable will be given in the town hall next- Wednesday evening under the auspices of the Young Ladies’ Sodahty of the R. C. church. A dainty luncheon will be served and everybody will be made welcome. Admission, ro cents. Mrs. J. W. Johnson received a mes- sage yesterday announcing that her mother had suffered a paralytic stroke and lies in a precarious condition at her home in Detroit, Mich. Mrs. Johnson will leave tor her mother’s bedside early next week. A meeting of the ~ Democratic County Committee will be held on Tuesday evening, Jan. 8th, at 8 o’clock, in the dining room of the Hotel Gladstone.
