Price, appeared be- fore the Board, on behalf of certain | people of Deer River, and presented a petition, praying that the Board take the necessary steps looking toward the incorporation of certain territory to be known and called by the name of the Village of Deer Riv- er. Said petition being duly verified, accompanied by the census of the ter- ritory sought to be incorporated, duly verified, showing that said territory op the 19th day of November, 1897, possessed 2 resident population of one hundred ninety-one, together with aj ' plat showing the territory and bound- ary thereof sought to be incorporated, and same being found conformable to the Statute. Upon motion the said petition was laid over until 2 p. m. for further consideration. The question cf the payment ofa bounty in said Itasca County, for the killing of wolves, was taken under consideration, and it was determined to offer no bounty therefor. An application of J. W. Day & Company, asking for the abatement of all penalty, interest and costs upon certain Jand owned by them in Town 57, Range 22, and in Town 58, Range 22, was read. After due considera- tion said application was granted and allowed. An application was then taken un- der consideration, praying for an abatement of penalty, interest and costs, and the further abatement of a portion of the original tax upona large amount of land belonging to J. W. Day & Company, and Laura F. Day, eval.
