CANTON, Ohio.—Sinclair Lewis— the flery red-haired author who made “Main Street” a by-word in the American language—believes that the tvpical small town he de- scribed 21 years ago in his famous novel has vanished. “‘Main Street’ is no more,” Mr. Lewis said, “because it has become | ® part of one big city. All sections of | the Nation except a few farming ereas, notably the Georgia Cracker | country, have become urban in the last 20 years.” He attributed the death of “main street” chiefly to the radio, motion pictures, the automobile and good roads.
