Daniel Rice, 63, senior consultor and vicar general of the Society of St. Joseph and former pastor of St. Vincent's Church here, died yesterday in a Baltimore hos- pital of pneumonia. Father Rice was pastor of St. Vincent's from 1924 to 1931. He was widely known as a missionary of the Society of St. Joseph. Before coming to Washington he had held pastorates in Montgomery and Mo- bile, Ala. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Father Rice was brought to this country at the age of 2. He received his education in the parochial schools of Philadelphia, and was graduated from St. Joseph’s Seminary in Balti- more. The late James Cardinal Gibbons ordained him to the priest- hood 1n 1907. After leaving Washington, Father Rice became pastor of St. Peter Claver's Church in Baltimore and later of St. Pius's Church there. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am. tomorrow with requiem mass at St. Pius’ Church. The Most Rev. Michael J. Curley, Archbishop of Baltimore and ‘Washington, will preside.
