After Glen Echo's general superin- tendent, Joe Hart, had shoveled the snow patches off his coaster dip, ‘Washington's amusement park yes- terday opened its “summer” season. Charlie West, 14-year-old Leland Junior High School pupil, was among the first to enter, wearing blue and white earmuffs. He walked through a huge new streamlined portal to the park, part of a $100,000 improvement program to be observed this vear. Only a few hundred drifted in during the inaugural day, but these were drawn into more intimate fraternity by the wintry breezes. “We're the polar bear club,” a girl explained. He Mercy Slayer of Son Granted Examination By the Associated Press. HOUGHTON, Mich, April 13.— Abraham White, 53, charged with murder for the mercy killing of his hopelessly handicapped son, was granted an examination today upon arraignment in Justice Court. The examination was set for next Friday. 8heriff John G. Salmi said White admitted drowning his son Fred- erick, 15, in & wash boiler at their home.
