By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, July 20.—Most bonds were higher today with utilities and rails in front. Government obliga- tions were steady and a trifle im- proved. Foreign loans were mixed. Traders evidently regarded the cur- rent business news in a more favor- able light as buying came into the market in slightly heavier volume. North American 5s climbed over a point and American Water Works 6s, Columbia Gas & Electric 5s and In- ternational Hydro Electric 6s im- proved. Great Northern 4s led the rail divi- sion with a gain of over 2 points. Senta Fe 4s, B. & O. 4';s, Missouri Pacific 55, M-K-T 5s, Southern Rail- way 4s, St. Paul 5s and Illinois Cen- tral 4345 pushed to higher levels. In the industrial group Youngs- town 3!;s and Bethlehem 4';s edged fractionally higher, while Penn Dixie 6s and Walworth 4s declined. Arrangements were made for trans- fer of a membership at $93,000, up $3.000 from the previous transaction. Last June, when the market was in the doldrums, two seats sold at $85,000 each, the lowest in about two years. Highest price paid this year ‘was $125.000 in March, ————e- Washmgton Excbange SALES—AFTER CALL. Riggs National Bank pfd.—4 at 100. Bid and Asked Prices. BONDS. PUBLIC UTILITY. Amer. BY the Assoctated Press, NEW YORK, July 20 year legal battle between Coppermines Corp. and Kennecott Copper Corp. has been settled, the former company announced today. With the termination of litigation, involving elaims and lawsuits against, each other over mining rights and, ore treatment contracts, Consolidated Coppermines will be in a positon to double present production of copper, it was stated. The company received $500,000 as a cash settlement of judgments re- cently obtained by it against Kennee cott. The new contract supplants agreements made in 1926 and provides for the treatment of Coppermine’s ore in the Kennecott concentrator and smelter to the extent of 6,000 tons of ore a day, double the amount specified in the old contract. The mining rights involved are in and about Kennecott's’ open pit mine in Nevada, part of which is on Coppermines’ ground, and have been adjusted to the satisfaction of both companies, it was stated. The settlement was the issue of a brisk proxy battle a few months 2go, in which the Coppermines manage- ment favored the present settlement and was upheld by stockholders in spite of the opposition of a minority group headed by the American Metal Co., owner of approximately 10 per cent of the Coppermines stock. —An eight- Consolidated NEW YORK BANK STOCKS NEW YORK.
