HOLLIDAY DIES IN HOSPITAL Former Naval Officer Was Com- mended for Service During World War. Lieut. Comdr. Seymour E. Holliday, 51, former naval officer, of Upperville, Va., died yesterday in George Wash- ington Hospital after an illness of sev- | eral months. He had come here to enter the hospital about two weeks ago. Graduated from the Naval Academy in 1907, Comdr. Holliday served in the Navy until resigning in 1923. Since | 1929 he had been a member of the | Naval Reserves and had served here on numerous short periods of active duty. He was a member of the Selective Serv- ice Committee of the War and Navy Departments. He received a special letter of com- | mendation from the Navy Department for his service during the World War | as force engineer on the staff of the | commander of the submarine force of the United States Fleet. Comdr. Holliday's last duty before resigning was that of commander of the destroyer Bruce. He was a native | of Anaqua, Tex. | Surviving are his widow, Mrs, Frances H.
