FARM INCOME UP April Figures Reported Best in Seven Years. ‘The highest April farm income in seven years was reported today by the Bureau of Agricultural Economics. Ingram Medley and ‘Walter Funderburk at the corner of Silver Spring avenue and Schrider street. Seven of the- buildings have been constructed and it is expect- ed the others will be completed by early Fall. When the project, to be known as Maryland Courts, is completed, there will be 54 units of two and three room apart- ments. The largest building of the group will be built directly on the corner of Schrider street and Silver Spring avenue and will be under way within the next 10 days. Building construction in major cities of the country during April reg- istered impressive gains over last year and was slightly in advance of March totals, Secretary Perkins stated to- day in announcing the. Nation-wide survey of building conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Reports from principal urban cene ters showed the value of permits ise sued for new residential construce tion last month was 4 per cent greate nounced. “An increase of 18 per cent was shown in the value of permits issued for additions, alterations and repairs to existing structures,” Miss Perkins said. “These gains were partly offe set by a decline of 9 per cent in new non-residential construction. The age gregate value of the building permits issued in April was 2 per cent greater than in the month preceding. “All types of building construction reflected impressive gains in compari- | son with the corresponding month of last year. Measured by the value of permits issued, an increase of 65 per cent is indicated in new residential construction and a gain of 23 per cent in new non-residential construc- tion. Additions, alterations and repairs to existing structures were 40 per cent higher than in April, 1936.
