A memorial prize to the late Joshua Evans, 3d, a senior at George Wash- ington University, has been established at the university by his parents and friends, it was announced today. The award, “to commemorate the attainments of a brilliant student and an inspirational and outstanding life,” will be made annually beginning this June to the man in the graduating class “who has demonstrated signal ability in the social and political sci- ences and who has given promise of the interpretation of this ability in good citizenship among his fellows.” The president of the university and a committee from the faculty will | make the selection. A page in the 1937 Cherry Tree, stu- dent annual, is dedicated to young Evans as a memorial by his fraternity brothers in the university chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Young Evans, who died February 2 as a result of an auto accident, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Evans, jr., both of whom have long been identified with the university. Wilson, chief of the United States Secret Service, died yesterday“of a heart attack in Buffalo, N. Y., where he made his home, according to word received here. The Secret Service chief left for Buffalo immediately on receiving word of the death. His father had been a frequent visitor to Washington and had a number of friends here.
