A—10 = COLWOGANTOR) TOWESTERN POST Ordered to Fort Sill., Okla., About June 30—Leaves Press Officer Post. Lieut. Col. John B. Wogan, Field Artillery, General Staff Corps, who for three years has been in charge of the press section, War Department General Staff, has been ordered to Fort Sill, Okla.,, about June 30 for duty with the 1st Field Artillery. As press officer during the last three years, Col. Wogan has been re- sponsible for the issuance to the pub- lic of & number of the most important announcements of Army development, policy and operations since the close of the World War. A native of Louisiana, Col. Wogan was graduated from the Military Academy in June, 1915, commissioned in the Coast Artillery Corps and sent soon afterward to the Mexican border. As a captain he was sent to France in September, 1917. Capt. Wogan was a battery com- mander in the first American heavy artillery sent to the front, on the Champagne front, and took part in the raid on Butte de Mesnil, February | 13, 1918. He then went to the Al- satian front as a battalion commander in the howitzer regiment. He was liaison officer for the heavy artillery with the 4th French Army, and fought in the St. Mihiel, Argonne and Meuse offensives. He commanded a battalion of the 43rd Artillery in the Meuse drive. After the armistice he was chief billeting officer at the American em- barkation center, served in Paris and then was sent to Coblenz, Germany, with the Army of Occupation. He was not returned to the United States until October, 1920. Since then he has held many important posts in the United States, including that of commanding officer of the Field Ar- tillery School Detachment at Fort Sill and of assistant professor of mil- itary science and tactics at Harvard | University.
